A 22-year-old Mayo man has been charged with murder following an incident last weekend.
Last Sunday, officers from the Mayo detachment responded to a report of an injured 38-year-old man at the village’s health centre.
The victim’s identity is being withheld out of respect for the family, police said Monday afternoon. He was declared deceased shortly after officers arrived.
Later that day, the 22-year-old Mayo man was arrested.
Daniel Cashaback-Myra has been charged with second-degree murder. He will appear in territorial court in Whitehorse on Jan. 27.
The police investigation is being led by the Yukon RCMP Major Crime Unit, with support by multiple Yukon RCMP detachments/units, and the office of the Yukon’s chief coroner.
