Mandate lifted for most YG workers
The Yukon government lifted the COVID-19 vaccination requirement for most of its workers effective Monday.
The Yukon government lifted the COVID-19 vaccination requirement for most of its workers effective Monday.
Vaccination is still necessary for employees, contractors, and volunteers working in high-risk settings in the territory.
High-risk settings include:
• long-term care homes;
•residential substance use programs;
• hospitals;
• shelters;
• residential programs for children and adults where staff provide care;
• correctional centres;
•Yukon government-operated community health centres; and
•government-operated public health clinics, including the referred care clinic.
“This requirement applies to current workers as well as any new workers in these settings,” the government said in a statement.
“In non-government high-risk settings, employers will continue to be required to implement policies for employees, contractors and volunteers to be vaccinated as appropriate for their settings.”
The vaccination requirement for those working in high-risk settings remains in place to stop the spread of COVID-19 and protect the most vulnerable Yukoners who are at risk of severe health outcomes, the government said.
Vaccine appointments can be made online at https://yukon.ca/this-is-our-shot.
Whitehorse residents can also call 1-877-374-0425. Residents in rural communities can call their local health centre to book an appointment and can find clinic dates and times on https://Yukon.ca.

@ ROY -
Why do you vote Liberal? If you have been keeping up with the current affairs of 2022, you would know that the guy I am voting for does not support the things you assert. Even the illiterate can avail themselves of the internet or cable television.

The ole Conservative party eh?
Like the Conservative party that supported vaccine mandates and lockdowns? Both at the federal level and in the 6 provinces where they are in power?
That’s the party you support?
Please explain why you are pro-vaccine mandate and pro-lockdowns…

@ Anonymous - thank you, I won't be dialing down my hatred for this government until it issues a public, publicly broadcasted apology to every citizen in Canada. There is no limit to how much I can dial up though. Just renewed the ole' Conservative membership, so I can use to vote for someone who isn't dying of stupidity.

@Mitch
The truckers have garnered the support of millions of Canadians and many more from across the world. They deserve an enormous amount of credit for putting themselves on the line to defend our Canadian freedoms, while people like Woodcutter are content to play keyboard warrior while imposing their doomsday fantasies of an apocalyptic plague onto others. The Quebec premiere cited the protests as one of the main reasons for the lifting their mandates. Even our own CMO made statements that were in line with what the truckers are promoting (Freedom from medical tyranny, respect for others and their personal decisions etc.). I think we ought to give credit where credit is due. They brought a topic that was being silenced into the public consciousness, and you'd be a fool to try and downplay the overarching 'meta' conversation that has come about as a result. Perhaps most satisfying of all, they exposed our Prime Minister and others like him as the pathetic sniveling cowards they truly are. Telling truckers, who work alone and sleep inside of their cabs, that they can't drive over the border, while these same people are flying around the planet, contracting and spreading covid multiple times despite being triple jabbed. I won't link the tongue-lashing he got from the EU parliament as I assume most have already seen it. "Spare us your presence" LMAO he will NEVER recover from this. He looked like he was about to cry. Poor little potato. Sorry Woodcutter I normally like your posts, but c'mon man you've got to give them some credit whether you agree with them or not.

So if I’m a maintenance worker who refused to get the vaccine, I now have my job back at full pay, but I don’t have to work in most of their buildings.
Sweet!

@ so called woodcutter - who would take credit for a Liberal failure? Truckers laud actual accomplishments daily, Liberals supporters ask stupid empty partisan questions to try to sound edgy...

Still an abhorrently discriminatory policy, stop trying to govern peoples bodys and medical choices! It is a basic human right to choose for yourself what medical treatments you undergo. This government is wildly out of control.

It’s about time. Forcing people to ingest something they didn’t want, do it or starve, or lose your house, or you can’t buy groceries, or we’re going to deny up you health care..shame on you, everyone one of you sitting on your judgemental *** will answer for it. Karma is the ***ch that never forgets. The news that vaccination will not keep you from getting and transmitting Covid, should of leveled the field. Instead you chose to hang a segment of our working population out to dry. For no reason except you could. Jeez..I despise this government. Since the NDP went red, we only have 2 parties. Not much choice.

You’re kidding, right? on Apr 6, 2022 at 5:55 pm
So YG employees need the jab to protect the shelter and correctional centre “clients”? I would have thought it would be the other way around, i.e. clients must have hepatitis, TB, HIV jabs. Seems backwards to me.

So, in other words, only the people at YTG who ACTUALLY WORK FOR A LIVING have to continue to suffer your inane political science and you think they are happy you are letting them come back to work? How much insult can a government that fails to provide healthcare give to those it already injured? If I had worked for you, I would sue you, TODAY. Thankfully, I will denigrate myself to the service of YTG.
