A Whitehorse man is in jail today after two people were stabbed Friday night.
Local RCMP report that at approximately 9:30 on Friday night, they were called to the Range Road area in the Takhini subdivsion.
According to an RCMP press release, a security guard working in the area had approached a couple in the street; the woman, he told police, appeared to be in distress.
The male half of the couple then allegedly stabbed the security guard and fled, as did the woman who was with him.
When police arrived, the security guard was still trying to find the suspect. He was sent to Whitehorse General Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries and police took over the investigation.
They eventually found the 19-year-old woman in a nearby residence. She had also been stabbed, police allege, and she too was sent to hospital.
Later that night, the suspect was found in a local hotel.
Eric Logan John, 27, was arrested without incident and charged with nine criminal offences, including two counts of aggravated assault.
He will remain in custody until his first court appearance on Nov. 19.
Both the woman and the security guard have been released from medical care.
