A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after a shooting over the Easter weekend in the Granger subdivision.

Whitehorse RCMP Const. Christine Grant confirmed the arrest this morning, but could not release a name until the man appears in court later this afternoon.

The case is currently being investigated by the territory's Major Crimes Unit.

Grant said it appears the shooting was drug-related.

At around 3 a.m. last Sunday, the RCMP were called to the home after receiving a complaint from someone who thought they'd heard a gunshot.

A 49-year-old man was found shot and taken to Whitehorse General Hospital.

He remains in hospital, but is in stable condition, Grant said.
