The RCMP's Whitehorse detachment is seeking the public's assistance in locating Robert Arthur King, a longtime Yukoner who has been missing for 12 days.
King, a 52-year-old Whitehorse resident, was last seen June 15 and was reported missing to police last Wednesday.
He had gone with a group of friends to Johnson's Crossing to assist with a canoe trip, police said this morning. He was last seen when he left his friends to drive one of the vehicles back into Whitehorse.
The vehicle was reported to police last Friday and found abandoned in a parking lot off Second Avenue near Kishwoot Island.
Sgt. Frank Campbell said this is the first time King has disappeared like this. Family members and friends had not noticed anything out of the ordinary about his behaviour prior to the disappearance, Campbell added.
King is Caucasian, with blue eyes and brown-grey thinning short hair. He is of small to slim build, is approximately five feet six inches tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a dark blue-and-white patterned sweater with faded blue jeans and black running shoes.
Anyone with information on King or his whereabouts are asked to contact the RCMP Whitehorse detachment at 667-5555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
Commonly known as Robbie King, the man, as an injured worker, has attracted significant media coverage in recent years over his battles to reform some practices of the Yukon Workers Compensation Health and Safety Board.
Meanwhile, police are still investigating the disappearance of 19-year-old Angel Carlick of Whitehorse. She was last seen in late May.
