Man arrested after woman attacked

Whitehorse RCMP have arrested and charged a Whitehorse man in relation to last week's sexual assault in the Ibex Valley area.

Whitehorse RCMP have arrested and charged a Whitehorse man in relation to last week's sexual assault in the Ibex Valley area.

Douglas Norman Hockley, 23, has been charged with one count each of break and enter with intent, uttering threats, wearing a disguise with intent, and sexual assault causing bodily harm.

He was arrested following a search warrant police officers executed on a residence in the Ibex Valley area at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Hockley is charged in relation to an incident that occurred last Tuesday when an unknown male broke into a residence in the Ibex Valley and sexually assaulted a 51-year-old woman.

The suspect fled the scene afterward.

The woman was taken to Whitehorse General Hospital for treatment.

Hockley remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
