A 40-year-old Whitehorse man died after a single-vehicle rollover near Haines Junction on Tuesday night.

RCMP responded to the scene on the Alaska Highway, north of Canyon, at about 9:30 p.m. The car was found sideways, about 30 metres off the road.

The first witnesses on the scene attempted C.P.R. on the driver, RCMP said.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor. The driver was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision. There were no other people in the car at the time.

The Haines Junction RCMP and the Yukon Coroner's Service are continuing to investigate the fatality.

The Yukon Coroner's office did not order an autopsy.

The name of the deceased is being held pending notification of next-of-kin
