Cory Laidler, the Libertarian party candidate for the Yukon, has pulled out of the federal election.
“I’m not running anymore because I have some more priorities with my family,” he said in an interview Wednesday.
Laidler said he had been running the campaign by himself, and that the workload proved too much.
“It takes up a lot of my time,” he said.
“My family just moved, and I’m the sole provider. I have to get back to work.”
Laidler, who works as an electrician, had been working in Kitimat, B.C., earlier this year.
Because he had to move back to the territory, the start of his campaign was delayed until early August.
Laidler said the campaign was also a financial burden on him, and that he wasn’t getting “enough support” from the Libertarian party.
Left competing for the Yukon seat in the Oct. 19 election are incumbent Conservative Ryan Leef, Liberal Larry Bagnell, New Democrat Melissa Atkinson and Green party candidate Frank de Jong.

Not sure about this dude but too many that claim to be libertarians are actually social conservatives in libertarian clothing. Or they are just too cheap to pay some taxes for the common good ie healthcare, education etc. Not real libertarians in my opinion.
As far as asking for smaller and efficient government free of waste and graft goes that is something all of us should be pushing for, left, right and center. Same goes for ensuring that our basic freedoms and liberties are not trampled by any level of government or corporation/NGO/religious organization.

A libertarian complaining about not getting enough support. How perfect.

Surprise surprise....the libertarian party won't help you. It's because the fundamentals of Libertarian groups is everyone for themselves. See how well society would work if we all turn our backs on each other....I mean (in libertarian terms) get rid of big brother. I'll keep my brother thank you....he is after all...family.
