Computec Embroidery lost five leather jackets after the business was broken into over the weekend.

A tenant of the Calcite Centre in the Marwell industrial area noticed that the door to the premise was insecure and contacted Whitehorse RCMP.

The jackets were worth $300 each.

Several other businesses fell victim to further window smashings over the weekend.

Police will not name which businesses were hit because of privacy reasons.

However, Sgt. John Sutherland said today the businesses are located on Elliott Street, Main Street and First Avenue.

Over the last few months, a number of downtown businesses have fallen victim to such window smashings, but no arrests have been made yet.

Police say the smashing incidents seem to be random incidents.

Sutherland asks that anyone seeing anything suspicious in the downtown area contact police.

Because of the rash of smashings, downtown businesses have been calling for more of a police presence.

As reported in Friday's Star, Whitehorse resident Patty O'Brien is looking to start a women's patrol group to help be on the lookout for property vandalism and theft incidents.
