The federal NDP leader will fulfil his promise of coming to the Yukon during this campaign it's just not clear when.
Officials at the New Democratic campaign headquarters confirmed today Jack Layton will make an appearance in the Yukon this month.
However, the office indicated his daily itinerary is set two days in advance and the territory is not in the lineup yet.
Layton promised last December, during his most recent visit, to make the junket back up to the Yukon during the campaign.
Pam Boyde, the NDP's standard bearer in the Yukon for the June 28 election, confirmed today Layton will make an appearance at some point.
'I'm really excited about it,' said Boyde. 'It shows how important the Yukon is to the party, to the leader.'
She said the appearance of the leader can only help her campaign.
'He can help my efforts even more,' Boyde said.
'We're feeling very, very optimistic that we're going to see a breakthrough.'
Boyde also did not know when Layton would hit the Yukon, saying there was no definite date set.
Then-NDP leader Alexa McDonough visited the Yukon during the 2000 election.
McDonough was one of two national leaders to visit the territory. Liberal Leader Jean Chretien was the other to make an appearance.
Before that, in 1993, the NDP's Yukon candidate, Audrey McLaughlin, was also the NDP leader.
