Johnson & Johnson vaccine is now available
While a new choice of COVID-19 vaccine is being offered to Yukoners today, Dr. André Corriveau, the acting chief medical officer of health, has also reported another death of a Yukon citizen from COVID-19.

This brings the total to 13 since the first death was reported in October 2020. The latest death was first reported Friday afternoon.
There are currently 99 active cases of COVID-19 in the territory.
“I am very sad to report another COVID-19 death here in the Yukon,” Corriveau said.
“My deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of this individual. Out of respect for the individual and their family, we will not be releasing any additional information.”
Meanwhile, according to a social media post from the Department of Health and Social Services, “a limited supply of Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine is available for people seeking an alternative to mRNA vaccines.
“Additionally, the Pfizer vaccine was initially available to those aged 12-17. This vaccine is now being offered to adults 18 and older in order to provide an alternative to Moderna.
“These vaccines are available November 29 and 30 at the Whitehorse Health Centre,” the department said.
“More appointments will be made available based on demand from Yukoners.”
NDP Leader Kate White has been pressing the government for some time to bring in some different vaccines to help allay some of the vaccine hesitancy among members of the Yukon general public who have been resisting the shots.
This morning, White said she is totally baffled about why the government isn’t talking about the availability of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
That’s a more traditional formula compared to the mRNA Moderna vaccine that has been the government’s go-to resource.
Many people are suspicious of that shot because it represents a totally new technology.
“It’s a really big deal,” White told the Star. “I have no idea of what the government is doing.”
White added that “people need as many choices as possible.
“This should have been announced at last week’s news conference (COVID-19 briefing),” White said of last Wednesday’s event, involving Corriveau and Premier Sandy Silver.
White and her chief of staff, Pascaline Etter, said they had scoured the government website – and had found no mention of the J&J vaccine.

What does that look like? I phoned today and was told there are no J&J vaccines in the Yukon right now. So they'll "get back to me" in a few days. I guess I'll just be on LWOP until then.

Salty - I guess you skipped all the "Oh Johnson + Johnson? Forget that! They put cancer causing stuff in their baby powder!" logical fallacy comments and went straight for me. And your post makes it transparent why you chose to do that.
Then you repeated your vague points multiple times using other words to make it appear stronger - and also for unknown reasons brought up how J+J can be legally liable for there actions (I think you mean "their actions") What the heck does that legal angle have to do with anything I said?
Your full of pseudo intellectualism response was probably very satisfying for you to write but ultimately could have been boiled down to "Hey man - you posted a challenge to people who were making errors in there (sic) critical appraisal of the situation and I don't like that because you're attacking 'anti-gene therapy' people like me. Since they are not capable of writing as many big words as me I'll take up the mantle and bring you the full force of my Dunning Kruger style ramblings. Behold!"

That was painful to read. At this time apparently 50% of the respondents support emotional incoherence.
1. Disparaging people who try to take responsibility for their choices by becoming informed vs blind faith in authorities or corporations is just emotional bullying. It is not a reasoned point.
2. When did anyone who doesn't rely only on faith or authority "trust" J&J? Making a rational judgement based on cost/benefit to use Tylenol/Motrin is neither "cherry-picking" or based on trust. It can be based on full knowledge of the pills contents, extensive research and history of use and long established manufacturing processes. If the company has the impulse to do "evil profit driven things" they can be held legally liable for there actions.
3. Comparing Band-Aids or polysporin to experimental gene therapy is obviously moronic.
4. You are trying to make the case that if you use any of a companies products, that you can't possibly discriminate against any of their other products, which is obviously ridiculous. So ridiculous in fact that you contradict it in your next sentence by saying corporations do good and evil things and that we have to make complicated decisions regarding this fact.
Are you aware that you create your own strawman position and refute it all in the same post? Do you care?
This is a good example of 2+2=5 thinking. Emotional contradictory nonsense is what the government has been forcing on people for the last 18 months. Vaccines are obviously not working, but they are somehow still the only answer. Masks, lock downs, all of it, unsupported by real world facts, yet demanded by emotion and authority. If 2+2=5 thinking is allowed to take root, it will tear apart our society.

I use literally zero J and J products and haven't use them in my entire adult life. I do not plan on starting now.
Hospital workers in some states that refused to be vaxxed because of concerns over fetal cells were notified of other products to avoid:
"30 common medications that used fetal cell lines during research and development. The list includes acetaminophen, albuterol, aspirin, ibuprofen, Tylenol, Pepto Bismol, Tums, Lipitor, Senokot, Motrin, Maalox, Ex-Lax, Benadryl, Sudafed, Preparation H, Claritin, Prilosec, and Zoloft."

Johnson and Johnson did not add asbestos to their baby powder. Their baby powder is made of Talc which can contain asbestos. Their error was not testing the talc they used to ensure it did not contain asbestos.

All you “I did my own research” / “I’ll take any excuse not to get vaccinated people” all of a sudden don’t trust Johnson and Johnson.
Check your medicine cabinets. Do you have Tylenol in there? How about Motrin? Do you have Band-Aids? Polysporin?
If you do then it sounds like you’re cherry picking when you’ll trust Johnson and Johnson and when you won’t.
Big corporations do evil profit driven things. And sometimes they do good things simultaneously. Welcome to the real world. It’s a complicated place with complicated choices.

Obviously the person who passed was vaccinated because if he or she wasn't vaccinated they wouldve said so in the report to further show that people who aren't vaccinated are the problem. My condolences to the family of the person who passed of COVID. It would be nice to be told the truth from the CMO of Health how many people have passed that were vaccinated and how many were not.

Threatened our livelihood stole our freedoms that's not what happened. Everyone who participated in this pandemic sham so they can travel and listened to this government is a sheep. You blame everyone else but yourself. Your decision to vaccinate was yours that's the way the liberals planned it. My freedoms nor my livelihood was never threatened because I ignore liberals and their story telling. First article - 42 people died of opioid and fentanyl yet we slam the Territory down for 13 covid deaths in over a year and most of them were with serious underlying health problems before covid. Just a question for all you liberals, if the only people allowed to fly are vaccinated, how are these variants getting up here? Oh right, the vaccine doesn't work - forgot.

Johnson is an adenovirus vector vaccine. These vaccines have a known history of mutagenic effects, with virus DNA being incorporated into human DNA.

I wish we had had these options before being threatened with our livelihoods. Moderna is not recommended for young people in many places in the world now. YG has been so slow this entire pandemic. It's like they get their news by dog team from Ottawa.

Is it new or isn't it? The talking points when promoting MRNA vaccines go something like "mRNA vaccines are newly available to the public. However, researchers have been studying and working with mRNA vaccines for decades."

How about bring some treatment and prophylaxis.
"That’s a more traditional formula compared to the mRNA Moderna vaccine that has been the government’s go-to resource."
It still contains that certain ingredient that allow people to have religious exemptions.
Let's not forget that it has been banned in many countries due to blood clots.
Let's not forget J and J just made a fake company to go bankrupt to avoid paying 38,000 lawsuits for cancer in women from J and J knowingly putting asbestos in their baby powder. Let's not forget the 2.2 billion dollars J and J had to pay for healthcare fraud in 2013. Let's not forget the 26 billion dollars they have to pay out for their part in the opioid crisis.
