Whitehorse RCMP and Yukon Search and Rescue (YSAR) are conducting a search related to an ongoing investigation along Fish Lake Road.

“Police believe at this time that public safety is not at risk,” the RCMP said Saturday.

They released no details of the investigation.

“Yukon RCMP can confirm that this search is not related to the active missing person investigations of Deanna Bailey from Whitehorse, missing since January 2022, and Ramona Peter from Ross River, missing since April 2023,” police said.

“RCMP resources are stable. Our core policing and priority investigations that are underway will continue to progress.

“Yukon RCMP continually assess operations and resourcing to ensure effective policing to support the safety of Yukoners and communities.”

There will be an increased police presence in the area “until further notice.”
