A person has been arrested following an investigation into recent thefts at the Canada Games Centre.
Security measures in place at the centre helped lead to the arrest, the City of Whitehorse said Wednesday afternoon.
City officials are reminding users of the facility that “we take your security seriously.
“We would like to thank the RCMP for its swift and diligent work on this issue.”
Patrons are encouraged not to bring their valuables to the facility, because even storing them in a locker isn’t a guarantee against theft.

I think in order to come in the building you should have to pay. End of problem. It can't just be a hang out. Too many kids hanging out with each other and nothing to do is a real problem and always has been. Vagrancy Law, there was a reason this law came into effect.

I think even if it is adult or youth their pic should be posted on the bullet board. So we can all see it. Our stuff should be safe there as paying customers ... they don't care about our stuff so why should I care about their right to privacy?

Hey drum...that is exactly what they are saying.
They forgot to add however your home, your vehicle, your workplace your person, etc.
Factors as to why we cannot have nice things, such as your home, your vehicle, pride in your place of employ, yes even your person?
I suggest as I do chronic like, as a direct result of ....
Liberal catch and release in the laughable courts.
Liberal Young Offenders ACT.
Liberal Gladue nonsense.
Liberal Not Criminally Responsible dogma.
Absolutely pandemic is Bigotry Of Lower Expectations, sigh Liberal too.
Hordes of folks willfully blind and ignorant of both situational awareness AND all illustrated above.
A M division that is too busy babysitting alleged adults that free range needing food, a place to puke, someone to wipe the puke alongside with their counterparts in those noisy taxis that shuttle folks across the river for lunch, a shower...before take 2:3:4:5:6:7:
You and others can argue my points, but I suggest yet again those are many contributing factors. Not all factors, just thee most common ones as to why we cannot have nice things ANYWHERE not just CGC.
Why we have uninvited folks in our homes...
Why folks get their person (face) slashed open...
Our things looted...
Our children predated on by monsters...
Blah blah blaaah, none of which is politically correct and the mere mention of any never-mind all of the above?
Takes those willfully blind and ignorant folks outta their personal comfort zone, forcing them to beach from the river of denial that gets so so soooo much traffic in these parts.
Full stop.

The person arrested should have to pay for the repairs to the lockers they broke into as well but it will be because they were abused or not treated right by someone and they will get off scott free. Slap on the hand and don't do that again. The public needs to catch them in the act. The RCMP should release a picture and name of the person doing this. Hold them accountable for their actions. Shame and embarrassment go along way.

Now if only they would publish a picture and name. Because they haven't, it's probably a young offender, so you know nothing will happen. I sent an email several days ago to the manager at CGC concerning safety and thefts but have not received a reply

Let me guess, he or she is a youth so they will only receive 30 day probation and 30 days suspension from CGC.

"Swift and diligent"? Oh, please.
This has been happening on the daily since the place opened in 2007 despite all the staff, dozens of cameras and hundreds of thefts.
