RCMP officers from Ross River, Faro and Whitehorse are searching the area around Tay Creek near Ross River for a missing toddler.

The child was reported missing by its parents at around 6 p.m., police reported today.

The family, from the Kamloops, B.C. area, had been camping at the creek about 50 kilometres north of Ross River when the two-year-old child wandered off, according to a police press release.

Ten RCMP members are being aided in the search by a sniffer dog, hand-held radar devices and the Yukon search and rescue team.

No other information was available by press time early this afternoon.

Pat1104 - You don't know the circumstances of what happened and to simply assume they weren't watching their children is ignorant and arrogant.

Pat1104, and other cynics--

If you don't know the whole story (and you don't), then you've no right to judge. You were not there, you are not the panic-stricken parents. Toddlers run, toddlers can be out of your sight in seconds and, sadly, accidents like this happen to the best of parents. But today we can thank our lucky stars the boy was found alive and reunited with is parents, who have been to hell and back today.Good job rescue team!

Eh? What about perenting skills? Anyone.

Same things happen in Daycares HERE every day. They cover them up, so you dont hear about it.

I'm a grandparent in Grande Prairie, AB. If you are moving any volunteers from here to Tay Creek for the search, I'll be happy to come and help.

I pray they find the child safe. Once again why are people not watching their children. The child is toddler not an older child you can let ran off and play. Come on now!
