One Whitehorse teenager was medevaced to Vancouver and another taken into custody last Saturday following a stabbing in Riverdale.

Whitehorse RCMP were called to a residence at 4:30 Saturday morning, where they found a 17-year-old man had been stabbed.

He was taken first to Whitehorse General Hospital, then flown to Vancouver for further treatment, police said this morning. He is expected to make a full recovery.

The suspect was no longer at the scene when police arrived. However, later in the day, officers arrested a relative of the stabbing victim and charged him with aggravated assault.

The suspect's identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He is scheduled to appear in court later this week.

Police believe alcohol may have been a factor in the incident.
