After 10 months as a city councillor, Kirk Cameron is ready for another three years on the job.
He filed his nomination papers for the Oct. 18 municipal election on Monday.
Cameron won last December's byelection, replacing Doug Graham, who was elected to the legislature two months earlier. He took the role with 405 votes of 2,268 cast for the 13 candidates.
"It has been a busy yet rewarding time serving on council these past few months,” Cameron said in a statement. "There is so much happening in Whitehorse that requires care and attention from those of us elected to serve citizens.”
Five people have officially thrown their hats into the ring.
Returning officer Norma Felker said today four people have submitted their nomination papers for one of the six councillor positions that will be filled when the city goes to the polls Oct. 18.
Those candidates are Cameron, Randy Collins, Helen Geisler and Julie Menard.
Mandeep Sidhu has also officially filed his paperwork.
Many other people have publicly stated their intention to run.
Monday was the first day to officially get your name on the ballot.
Nomination papers can be submitted until noon Sept. 27.
