A committee will be formed to review the Yukon's Human Rights Act over the next several months, it was unanimously agreed to in the legislature Wednesday.
The motion calling for the review was brought forward Tuesday by Yukon Party MLA Steve Nordick of the Klondike.
Justice Minister Marian Horne will chair the committee herself, and will be joined by opposition Justice critics Steve Cardiff of the New Democrats and Liberal MLA Don Inverarity.
The motion mandates the committee to make its report back to the house no later than the 15th day of the fall sitting of the legislature. Decisions by the committee require the support of all three committee members.
The motion also directs the legislative assembly to provide the necessary support to allow the committee to do its work.
