Human remains were located in the Long Lake area of Whitehorse on Wednesday morning.

The identity of the deceased, including gender and age, are unknown at this time, Whitehorse RCMP said this morning.

They are asking hikers and the public to avoid the area, specifically the Long Lake Heights trail/Upper Long Lake trail, over the next few days as officers complete ground searches related to the investigation.

Investigators are working closely with the Yukon Coroner’s Service.

More information will be released when possible, police said.

@JC
I don't watch or listen to CBC either but a simple mouse click and voila CBC North.
Stay informed and make your own informed decisions. Enough said, this article isn't about me or you.

Please tell us that it's one of the drug runners from Alberta that's been shooting up the territory for the last few months.

Bandit, some of us don't watch or listen to the CBC. Does that surprise you? Why wasn't it in the daily papers?

Woman reported missing in Carmacks has been found, say RCMP
Police had asked for help to find 44-year-old Carla Rochelle Gage on Wednesday

RCMP in Yukon say a Carmacks woman who had been reported missing has been found.

Police had asked for help to find 44-year-old Carla Rochelle Gage, after she had last been seen leaving her home on Wednesday morning.
An RCMP news release issued just after 5 p.m. Wednesday said the Gage had been found safe.
Maybe you're not paying attention.

Can't understand why I got so many down arrows for my comment. It's true. Let's take for example, the lady who went missing in Carmacks 2 weeks ago. Has anyone heard any more news? If so, why hasn't it been reported? And like other stories of such nature in the past, there never was a follow up. So, who are those down arrow bunch? Have they not been paying attention?

@Matthew....what complete shut down? Many people worked, and in my case overtime. Become essential and you'll see all the self centered a-holes, who don't care and are too stupid to understand the hard work of our medical professionals, the wise choices of our elected officials and sacrifices of us essentials.

A tragedy was avoided and you're too obtuse to recognize it.

Nope, Matthew. Most people do not read a tragic story like this and immediately think about the petty inconveniences in their lives. Most people think about the loss and the grieving family and send them prayers.

Now, will we ever know the identity of this person? Or is this like always a one time story?
