A 24-year-old man was medevaced out of the territory after his vehicle rolled over north of Whitehorse on Sunday.

At about 5 p.m., a 1992 Plymouth Acclaim was travelling south on the Alaska Highway when it flipped several times.

The vehicle is reported to have crossed the centre line, left the road and hit a small hill of dirt before flipping over.

Witnesses to the incident provided assistance before Emergency Medical Services, Fire and Rescue personnel and the RCMP arrived.

The only person involved in the single-vehicle collision was sent south for treatment after he was transported to Whitehorse General Hospital.

His current medical status is unknown, and police are not releasing the name of the injured man.

Officers are continuing their investigation.

The cause of the rollover has yet to be determined, but police say alcohol may have beeen a factor.

Meanwhile, a bear sighting caused a single-vehicle collision on the Haines Road over the weekend.

Two Austrian motorcyclists were driving together on the highway between Haines, Alaska and Haines Junction when the lead rider spotted a bear on the side of the road in the late afternoon on Saturday.

He did a U-turn, causing the second biker to lose control and crash on the road, where he briefly lay unconscious.

RCMP officers patrolling the area witnessed the crash and immediately helped out.

Emergency medical personnel were called out and the second biker was taken to the hospital.
