Some 40 of 50 golfers were not dissuaded on Good Friday when they awoke to a plump snowfall.

Jeff Leuhmann of the Meadow Lakes Golf Course said today the event to raise money for a rare lung disease that affects only women went ahead as scheduled, with a fundraising return of $3,500.

'We just dealt with it,' Leuhmann said in an interview. 'You have to have your glass half full in this country, don't you?'

Whitehorse and the surrounding area were blanketed with fresh snow overnight last Thursday, all day Friday and into Saturday.

Official weather statistics were unavailable today as the local office, along with most government offices, was closed.

Unofficial reports, however, suggested different areas received different amounts, from nothing just north of town to next to nothing south of Johnson's Crossing.

Charles Kremer, owner of Mukluk Annie's outside of Teslin, said they received no snow there. But when he came into Whitehorse over the weekend, he was awed by the amount the capital received.

'I was so surprised when we got to the top of the hill (at Johnson's Crossing),' he said.

Kremer said from the top of the hill north to Whitehorse there just seemed to be more and more snow.

Weekends travellers to Dawson City reported there was nothing fresh immediately north of Whitehorse.

And while local residents in Porter Creek report 15 to 20 centimetres (six to eight inches) of the unexpected, Logan and Copper Ridge residents recorded a whopping 33 centimetres (13 inches).

Leuhmann said there were a few lost balls on the makeshift two-hole course all of them coloured to boot.

'The golf course will be glowing when it does melt,' he predicted.
