The Yukon government has fully embraced the YESAB's recommendation to allow Victoria Gold to proceed with its Eagle Gold open-pit project near Mayo.

The government not only accepted the recommendation for approval, but adopted all 123 conditions set out by the YESAB (Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Board).

The government last week issued its decision on the assessment board's Feb. 19 recommendation.

The decision gives Victoria Gold a green light to go forward with its application for a Quartz Mining Licence from the government and a water licence from the Yukon Water Board.

Victoria Gold is planning to proceed this summer with preparation of the site at Dublin's Gulch.

In an interview following YESAB's Feb. 19 recommendation for approval, company president John McConnell said there would likely be between 100 and 150 people employed this year during the preparation work.

The company still plans to be in production in 2015, with an estimated capital investment of $430 million, McConnell said.
