A woman has been charged after an alleged arson incident Wednesday afternoon at a Whitehorse apartment complex.

Danielle Hodgson, 37, is facing charges of arson and two counts of the failure to comply with a probation order, Whitehorse RCMP said today.

The charges stem from a fire that began at the apartment building on Lewes Boulevard in Riverdale.

Police received a report of an act of arson at the apartment at around 2:45 p.m.

At the scene, residents of the apartment, two men aged 41 and 36, and a 19-year old woman, told police a woman had thrown gasoline through an open apartment window while they were inside – and then set the gasoline on fire.

They said they knew Hodgson, who fled the scene after the alleged incident.

The fire had been extinguished by the residents before police and members of the Whitehorse Fire Department arrived.

Police say when they arrived at the apartment, they found damage to the window frame that appeared to be consistent with a recent fire.

Officers also found a significant amount of gasoline on the kitchen floor.

Approximately two hours later, Hodgson was located and arrested by police near the intersection of Alsek Road and Lewes Boulevard.

The charges against Hodgson have not been proved in court.

She was expected to make her first appearance in territorial court today.

This nutbar will never see the inside of the women's jail... too many 'considerations'.

Glad I don't live in a ground floor apartment...
