With thousands of visitors in Whitehorse and parking lots stuffed to the brim, the city's transit service has received a shot in the arm.
Whitehorse Transit manager Dave Muir said Friday he's seen ridership on the city's fleet jump by 60 per cent.
'On weekdays, we normally have about 1,500 boardings a day.
'We had 3,500 to 4,500 boardings a day in the first week of the (Canada Winter) Games,' Muir said.
'Last Saturday (Feb. 24), our ridership went up 160 per cent. Normally, we have 250 to 300 boardings; it went up to 3,700,' he said.
Muir said the transit service is surveying its riders to find out how they like the new service.
