The Association franco-yukonnaise (AFY) and the Yukon government have partnered to present a French language tourism marketing campaign for audiences in Quebec.

This is the territory’s first French language tourism marketing campaign.

Several campaign elements from Tourism Yukon’s current “Don’t Wait for Someday” campaign have been re-purposed specifically for the Quebec market with the French tagline “Qu’attendez-vous?”.

It began airing last Monday, and will continue until March 22.

The CanNor Agency is provided funding to support the initiative, which includes television, online video, social media and Montreal airport digital screen tactics.

According to the 2017/18 Visitor Exit Survey results, four per cent of visitors to the Yukon originated from Quebec.

AFY’s role in promoting Yukon to French markets is growing, it said in a statement Friday.

By working in partnership with Tourism Yukon, AFY aims to increase French-speaking visitors to the Yukon from within Canada.

Marketing Yukon in Quebec as a vacation destination also provides business development opportunities for francophone artists and tourism entrepreneurs targeting Franco-Canadian consumers.

“We take a great deal of pride in this campaign conducted in collaboration with the Government of Yukon, because it gives us the opportunity to share, in French, our love for the Yukon with French-speaking people from other parts of Canada,” said AFY president Jeanne Beaudoin.

“With this campaign, we hope to attract even more Québec tourists to the Yukon and make the territory one of the top destinations for francophone tourists in 2020.

“The Government of Yukon is thrilled to partner with the Association franco-yukonnaise on our first ever French language tourism campaign in Quebec,” said Jeanie Dendys, the minister of Tourism and Culture.

“Canadian travellers come to enjoy our wide-open spaces, pristine wilderness and rich, inclusive culture.

“This campaign provides us the opportunity to share our beautiful home with Quebec travellers in their mother tongue.

“The tourism industry generates significant economic wealth for the territory. In addition, celebrating Yukon’s many diverse cultures and telling Yukon’s stories with our potential visitors fosters a sense of community and builds a rich and inclusive society.”

Frenchies in the "House" need to keep it to themselves. Avoid the bashing. Not worth it. Keep it low profile. Up here, you only promote yourselves to the anglophones, who won the war. And they won't let you forget it. Because that is probably all that is known about the Frenchies.

Have you’ve ever read such utter nonsense. 4% come to visit whoppi doo dah. Why not just let people who actually want to visit continue to do so instead of spending oodles of money to persuade those to come to parlez vous in their mother tongue mon dieu.
