The Yukon’s chief medical officer of health, Dr. Brendan Hanley,
The Yukon’s chief medical officer of health, Dr. Brendan Hanley, is reporting 40 new, confirmed cases of COVID-19 detected between noon last Friday and noon Monday as the outbreak continues.
According to a news release, for the new cases since noon last Friday, 27 are in Whitehorse, with seven cases in rural communities. Six are pending confirmation.
One hundred and ninety-nine individuals in the most recent outbreak have recovered from the virus.
There have been five deaths of Yukoners since November 2020.
The latest figures bring the active case count to 149.
The Yukon’s total case count since March 22, 2020 is 425.
There have been 351 cases since June 1, 2021, including out-of-territory residents diagnosed in the territory and probable cases.
Potential exposure notification letters have gone to parents and staff of the preschool, after-school and kindergarten groups at Grow with Joy Childcare, Days Inn location, for those attending it from June 23 to June 30.
Direction from Yukon Communicable Disease Control (YCDC) is different based on days attended.
YCDC has provided specific direction to those affected. All other information is provided by the daycare operator to parents and staff, based on advice from YCDC.
As a reminder, no restrictions have changed. However, Hanley has made several strong recommendations.
Everyone in the Yukon should continue to follow the Safe 6 plus 1, and keep their social group sizes to six people or fewer.

@sez Sue re: iBrian's testimony; If he needs the vaccination to keep his job he wasn't/isn't working from home and testifying as to how sick he was.

fully vaccinated = 2 doses, and at least 2 weeks since 2nd dose
unvaccinated = no dose
partially vaccinated = 1 dose, or 2 doses but less than 2 weeks since 2nd dose. Refer to yukon.ca/covid for information. and your statement about "most of the deaths were fully vaccinated" is simply false. I believe from last week's update that one fully-vaccinated person had passed away, and sadly had underlying health issues.

@Quest
The problem is that they are not sharing the complete info. They refer to people with one Vaccine as unvaccinated, people with Two Vaccines as unvaccinated if less the 2 weeks since last shot. They refuse to tell us that most of the deaths were fully Vaccinated, how about that?

Too bad there isn't a vaccine against religious atrocities caused by their belief system, none of which is based on facts!

To iBrian, you should not be coerced to take this injection.
Look up "Vaccine Choice Canada" which is a great website for info on your rights to refuse vaccines, and what actions you can take.

@casa loma
Why the baldface lie that can be so easily disproven with a fact check? From Yukon.ca:
As of Monday, July 5, 2021:
76% of adults have their 2nd shot
35% of 12-17 year olds have had their 2nd shot
0% of U11 have had any shot at all.
How do you get 90% out of those numbers?
Right now guess who is spreading the virus? The unvaccinated, across all 3 groups.
Have a look over here: https://yukon.ca/en/this-is-our-shot
You don’t need much reading comprehension to understand; they have some pretty little graphs.

@ casa loma and George I just meant that those statics would go along way to show how well the vaccines are working. I do understand that the 18 and under crowd is still under vaccinated, and hope it happens sooner than later. I did hear when the first part of this out break happened, that one person that had the shot was infected but only had minor symptoms.

from today's update - hospitalizations on Jul 7, 2021 at 3:07 pm
I believe Dr Hanley said of the 3 people who passed away since June 1, none were vaccinated. I can't recall what he said about unvaccinated vs vaccinated people in hospital (I think 1 was fully-vaccinated) but here's the quote the news story. 19 people ill enough to be hospitalized - that's serious. "As of Tuesday, the territory had 147 active cases of COVID-19. Seven people have been taken out of territory for care, and Hanley said six of those were still in hospital. Another 12 people were in hospital in Yukon.
Three people have died with COVID-19"

Don't worry Im not a cat.
I'm wondering how you can ask people to stay home from work and use sick days when one of the key benefits of the vaccine is not to feel the symptoms.
It's possible that the case numbers are way higher BUT because people have the vaccine, they pass the symptoms off as being "allergies" OR they simply aren't feeling them. One of the best indicators we have for strain, stress is our bodies giving us indications. What this vaccine is done is it has removed a natural body indicator. It's kind of like using pain killers to mask the pain when you have a twisted ankle. Sure you can now walk on it but it doesn't mean that you're not doing damage.

People shouldn’t be getting tested unless they're so sick they need to go to the hospital.
Then we would be down to “0” cases.
Ask yourself, did you go get checked to see if you had a Flu 2 years ago?
I am just sour about this whole thing because I have to get the vaccine to keep my job now.Even though I had the Covid last year and wasn’t even sick, and carried on with working.
This medical director doesn’t recognize natural built immunity. Just segregated everyone into 2 groups. Vaccinated and Unvaccinated.
It goes against everything that is natural to make a person who doesn’t need the shot to get the shot.
I am not against the vaccine, I just never got the flu shot and didn’t want to start. But, in order to keep a roof over my family and food on the table, I have to get it. So much for Human Rights and choice of what you do with your body.
It’s not about protecting others, if you got the vaccine, you can still get the Covid, so what was the point? Oh right, symptoms MAY BE MILDER? But your still a carrier.
It’s not a true vaccine.

@dick.. a better question would be how many are going to the hospital and, do those who are getting sick have underlying conditions. Remember this whole removal of our freedoms and “ emergency” was based on the threat of overwhelming our hospital. The barely elected government has been able to do whatever they want under pretension of emergency.

Again, enough of the numbers, why don't you teach us all about building and maintaining a healthy immune system.. Unless you have NO clue..
