Today, it announced those waiting to get their shots at the flu clinic at the Canada Games Centre will get a free pass to use the recreational facility while they wait.
"Over the past few days, there has been a tremendous response to the flu clinic being offered at the Canada Games Centre,” said Art Manhire, the indoor facilities manager for the city.
"We have typically been seeing lineups of one hour and 30 minutes to three hours.”
Those lining up for their flu shot will first register and be provided with a number and a wrist band to use the Games centre. Numbers will be called out over the speaker system to notify those waiting for the needle.
"This will allow the person waiting for their shot, especially those with small children, to relax and play while they wait,” Manhire said.
The clinic will continue today and tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
While there is no clinic set for Sunday, it will resume Monday to Saturday of next week, with the same hours.

The risks associated with the flu vaccine (either seasonal or the pH1N1) are as low as can be with any medical intervention or treatment, despite what the Captain of the Tinfoil Hat Brigade may be vomitting from its keyboard.
"Francias": haven't you found a way to blame this on Harper yet? Or maybe, swine flu is a piece of propaganda cooked up by the "crack dealing truck driving welfare bums" that you see in Whitehorse everyday?
If the Whitehorse Star wants to have some semblance of decorum on its comments section, the comments should be disabled entirely. I do find them amusing enough to pass the time, though.

Moderator: When you are going to stop allowing her comments to go through? You are approving her messages but all she does is malign individual's over and over again.
Giving a parent grief over being happy that it wasn't a painful wait with a child to get their flu shot is ridiculous. It was nice they could watch TV or use the game centre.
So, Moderator...get a clue and stop approving this idiot's opinions.

Its seriously pathetic when you have no problem waiting 2 hours for an unproven potion, when you people can't even take 10 minutes to vote. Too bad the tv dosent have time to run FEAR ads about people who don't vote.

Just wanna take a moment to thank whomever came up with the ideas in regards to a television for the younger children and games center passes. These totally unexpected bonuses were a welcome relief with 2+ hr wait with a young child.
