Five men walked away with only minor injuries following a helicopter crash on the Tulsequah River on Saturday evening.

Atlin RCMP Const. Bill McDougall said today police were called to the crash near the Taku River, south of Atlin, at around 5:30 p.m. The Discovery Helicopters Ltd. aircraft had landed upside down in about a metre of water.

It's not clear what caused the crash.

'We're still investigating,' said McDougall.

The pilot had been moving four kayakers three whom were from Terrace, B.C. and the other from Alberta onto the river.

All five men who were in the helicopter were taken to the Red Cross outpost where they were treated and released.

'There were just some bumps and bruises,' said McDougall.

Discovery Helicopters is based in Atlin. No one with the company was available for comment at press time this afternoon.

Transport Canada was also notified of the crash.

Bill Yearwood, regional manager for the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, said today from Vancouver the board is still waiting to talk to the pilot to find out what caused the accident.

A full-scale investigation has not been launched.

'We're still assessing it,' said Yearwood.

Depending on what comes out of the interviews with those involved, a detailed investigation may not be launched.
