There was no damage from fire to a trailer that was being put in place at the Takhini Mobile Home Park Tuesday evening.

Whitehorse firefighters were called to the trailer park on Range Road at 7:19 p.m. to a smoldering fire beneath one of the homes that was being set up there, platoon chief Bob Jacobs said this morning.

The blaze was small enough that there was no damage to the property and it's suspected it was ignited by some of the work that was being done that day.

The call to the Takhini fire came in as firefighters were working to extinguish a blaze downtown at the Chilkoot Hotel (see p. 5). While some firefighters were able to leave that scene to go to the trailer park, others came from the fire station.

In total, 21 firefighters were on-hand last night to assist with both, most taking part in the weekly training session. The department was back in full-service by 9:06 p.m. Jacobs said.
