The Yukon's coroner has released the name of the man who died in a fire in Riverdale last week.

Alan Fournier, 50, died last Thursday in his home on Lewes Boulevard.

Whitehorse RCMP say his death does not appear to be suspicious and may have been accidental, caused by smoking in bed.

Fire officials have said the apartment had a mount for a smoke detector but there was no smoke detector attached.

Acting chief coroner Julius Debuschewitz, said the man's body was sent to Vancouver for an autopsy.

It will now take four to six weeks for toxicology reports to be completed before a cause of death can be officially determined, he said.
