The first-ever Yukon Words Festival will take place Nov. 25-27 in Whitehorse.

The inaugural festival is being organized by the Yukon Words Society.

It features writers and word artists from the Yukon and Outside, sharing words, ideas, writings and wisdom.

Emerging and accomplished poets, journalists, storytellers and novelists will take the stage over two days at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre on Nov. 26 and 27, with a kick-off reception at Arts Underground planned for Nov. 25.

“It may seem strange for a writer to say, but I am at a loss for words due to excitement about our first and long-awaited words fest – connecting creators and audiences,” said Ellen Bielawski, Yukon Words’ president.

Featured writers from Outside will include Danny Ramadan, Andromeda Romano-Lax and Paul Seesequasis.

Confirmed Yukon participants include Tara Borin, Esther Bordet, Christina Brobby, Patti Flather, Christine Genier, Jamella Hagen, Eva Holland, Peter Jickling, Leonard Linklater, Joanna Lilley, kjmunro, Bria Rose, Chris Tse and Kylie Van Every.

The Gather Round event on Nov. 26 will feature six Yukon artists reading their writing live on stage alongside Seesequasis.

Yukon Words’ virtual open mic Words Out Loud will take place at 7 p.m. Nov. 23 on Zoom. Sign-up is at https://yukonwords.ca.
