Festival kept Dawson RCMP hopping

The Dawson City Music Festival proved to be busy for members of the Dawson RCMP, traffic services, relief team, police dog services and auxiliary constables.

The Dawson City Music Festival proved to be busy for members of the Dawson RCMP, traffic services, relief team, police dog services and auxiliary constables.

Several check stops were conducted, police said today.

Police dogs were also used for both the detection of drugs and apprehending a suspect in a business break and enter.

Officers responded to 58 calls for service. They issued 43 tickets under the Yukon Liquor Act and poured out more than 700 cans and bottles of liquor.

Thirty-one people were held by police over the weekend. Five were transported to Whitehorse for further court appearances.

Other charges laid over the weekend include:

• two impaired driving offences;

• one count of assault causing bodily harm;

• two assault charges;

• five charges of mischief;

• one break and enter in a business;

• one break and enter in a residence;

• two roadside license suspensions;

• one charge of possession of a dangerous weapon;

• four charges of breaching an undertaking recognizance;

• six charges of possession of a controlled substance;

• one trafficking in a controlled substance charge;

• eight lost and found calls and

• one request to locate.
