Kluane National Park and Reserve is set to co-host the 2018 Northern Nights Dark Sky Festival with the Yukon Astronomical Society on Friday and Saturday.

Now in its third year, the Yukon’s only dark sky festival celebrates the wonders of the northern dark sky by involving festival goers in a variety of activities.

Those include night sky photography with photographer Neil Zeller, bat house building, First Nations traditional storytelling with Daniel Tlen and John Fingland, live music with Ryan McNally and Brigitte Dejardins, painting with artist Maya Rosenberg, and roasting bannock over the fire.

Activities will take place at the Kathleen Lake Day Use area in Kluane National Park and Reserve. Parks Canada will also have a mobile planetarium set up at the Da Ku Cultural Centre in Haines Junction.

The current string of clear days and nights is expected to continue throughout the coming festival.

Cool. Clear fall skies and no light pollution can't be beat. Enjoy all.
