Premier Dennis Fentie will be heading off to Ottawa this week to join other premiers from across the country in meeting with Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Cabinet spokeswoman Roxanne Vallevand confirmed this morning Fentie will be attending the first ministers meeting set for Friday at 24 Sussex Dr. in Ottawa.

While Vallevand said Fentie preferred to wait until after the meeting to discuss it with reporters, numerous media reports have suggested the economy will dominate the gathering's agenda.

'This meeting is part of the ongoing discussions that the prime minister maintains with first ministers,' reads a statement out of Harper's office last week.

'These discussions ensure that Canada's governments work together to improve the prosperity and quality of life of Canadians in every region of our country.'

Fentie is back on the job after having missed most of the last session of the legislature to recover from surgery to remove a tumour.
