A new detachment commander has been selected for the Faro RCMP.
A new detachment commander has been selected for the Faro RCMP.
Const. Ryan Hack has been selected to soon start leading the detachment.
The posting also comes with a promotion to the rank of corporal.
Hack was raised in Manitoba. His first posting in the RCMP was to Dawson City. He was transferred to Carcross and later moved to Whitehorse in August 2009.
He was most recently posted to the Yukon Integrated Border Enforcement Team based in Whitehorse.
"The detachment commander plays a really key role in the community,” Chief Supt. Peter Clark said in a press release.
"Not only are they responsible for managing and leading the detachment, they are the main link to local leadership when it comes to identifying and addressing the needs and priorities of the community.
"The detachment commander is an ambassador of the RCMP to the community and a vital conduit for the community back to the division leadership team.”
Following a review of the Yukon's police force in 2010, the RCMP agreed to provide community leadership with an opportunity to participate in the selection of their local detachment commanders, and to be informed and consulted when members move in and out of the community.
"We're thrilled to welcome a new detachment commander to Faro,” said Mayor Heather Campbell.
"Ryan brings energy and enthusiasm along with his experience in other parts of the Yukon.
"We were very happy to have had an opportunity to be involved in the selection process and we look forward to having him and his young family, become part of our community.”
Hack goes to Faro with his wife, Joy, son Aidan and daughter Paige.
He replaces Cpl. Russell Blackjack, who left Faro in 2009, on a transfer to Pelly Crossing.
