A Whitehorse man, whose family feared for his safety after he didn't show up to a meeting with his son, has been found safe.

Ralph Cumbridge was supposed to leave Whitehorse on July 29 aboard a Greyhound bus and join his son in Princeton, B.C.

The pair never met up and the family called the police last Friday.

RCMP and a team of officials with Greyhound began searching for the man, who has mental health issues.

Sgt. Don Rogers, with the RCMP in Whitehorse, said Cumbridge arrived back in Whitehorse — aboard a Greyhound bus — this morning.

It appears he had been in Princeton the entire time but could not find his son, Rogers said.

"He couldn't find the people he was meeting so he spent some time there by himself and then decided to come home.”

The 57-year-old went to the Salvation Army after arriving back in Whitehorse and was recognized by staff, who called police, Rogers said.

Family had expressed concerned about the man's mental health, and worried that he might not have enough medication with him.

Rogers said he did not have any information on the man's state of mind when he was found.
