A former full-time social worker with the Yukon government in Dawson City has been charged with sexual assault, says an RCMP press release issued today.
Henry Cameron Sinclair, 58, is charged with one count of sexually assaulting a Dawson resident in July 2005, says the release.
The charge was laid on Wednesday.
Sinclair was released from custody yesterday and is scheduled to appear in court April 24.
Marcelle DubÈ, a spokeswoman for the Department of Health and Social Services, said this morning Sinclair was a permanent employee with the government from November 2002 to March 2006.
DubÈ said she is not at liberty to discuss what ended Sinclair's employment with the department.
The RCMP release, issued by Sgt. Daniel Gaudet, said the Dawson detachment received a complaint in November 2005, and is continuing its investigation.
Court documents state the complainant was an adult male.
