It will be at least another six weeks before a former Yukon government home care worker will be sentenced for stealing money from a woman she was caring for.

In court Wednesday afternoon, Sandy Forbes pleaded guilty to theft.

Duty counsel Lynn MacDiarmid told Justice of the Peace Dean Cameron that Forbes had never been before the courts before and wants her case to be dealt with as soon as possible.

MacDiarmid said she's advised Forbes that having a pre-sentence report prepared before sentencing would be beneficial.

Crown prosecutor Tracy McPhee agreed to the pre-sentencing report. She noted it's a fairly complicated case because while Forbes has no criminal record, the case entails a breach of trust situation.

The pre-sentence report will come back to court on March 30.

Forbes is no longer a government employee.
