DAWSON CITY – Traffic mishaps on remote sections of Yukon highways can happen during any season of the year and in any road conditions.
Most don't attract news coverage unless someone has been killed or seriously injured.
This week has been no exception, with road conditions varying from clear and dry to wet and icy on the North Klondike Highway between Whitehorse and Dawson City.
The Dodge Caravan minivan pictured here could be seen off the highway just north of Pelly Crossing on Monday.
This is an unusual-looking accident for the North Klondike Highway, as it appears to have been an impact rather than just going off the road.
The minivan had been towed away by Wednesday, by which time there had been some snow and ice on the road.
This Dodge Ram pickup truck shown here went off the highway and rolled on a slight curve between Fox and Little Fox Lake, some 90 kilometres north of Whitehorse.
This tends to be the more normal sight along the artery linking the capital to the Klondike.
