Whitehorse RCMP are investigating a hit and run crash last Saturday morning in downtown Whitehorse.

A 29-year-old pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at around 3 a.m. while crossing Fourth Avenue near Steele Street. The driver fled the scene.

When police arrived, two citizens were providing first aid to the woman, said Cpl. Rick Aird.

Neither of the citizens witnessed the crash, Aird said Monday.

The woman was taken to Whitehorse General Hospital. Spokesperson Val Pike said she has multiple fractures but is expected to recover.

As of Monday afternoon police had no suspect, Aird said. A collision reconstructionist attended the scene.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call the Whitehorse RCMP at 667-5555.
