A young man was arrested in downtown Whitehorse on Wednesday and charged with drug trafficking.

That afternoon, various members of Yukon RCMP teams, including the Federal Investigations Unit and the Whitehorse detachment, conducted a traffic stop on Third Avenue. They stopped a red 2017 Dodge Ram 1500.

They seized pre-packaged pieces of suspected crack cocaine, pre-packaged suspected powdered cocaine and $2,320 in cash.

The driver, 26-year-old Khristopher McCormick, has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

McCormick appeared in court and was released on conditions.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday of next week.

@Guncache
WTF is a 'goth weapon'?
If it's a futile attempted to downplay the combo of drugs and weapons you have little understanding of the law. Further if you don't think a Leatherman is capable of killing or hurting a person remember that on 911 the hijackers used box cutters to bring the US to it's knees and killed thousands.

@ moe and moose
The Star reports: McCormick appeared in court and was released on conditions... (BTW he was back in custody by the end of the day) on new charges.
His next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday of next week... (BTW he was released from court Tuesday with even MORE conditions) Stay tuned, I would bet this POS is back in custody by Friday.

Steven, give me a break. Drug dealing is for people who are lazy, greedy, and stupid. It's not a 'trap' that 'anyone could fall into'. He's a goof, he got caught (again), and I hope he spends a few years in prison.

One of the problems is he feels he probably can't stop. The drugs were confiscated, and so was the money. That means this guy now owes his higher-up those things, and they'll want it, plus interest. So he goes back out again to commit more crime to find the money to pay them back. It's not like Walmart or whatever just being able to suck up those losses... drug-dealing is a business, and a business run by terrible people who want their money.

I know most people reading this won't have any sympathy whatsoever, but once you start down this particular road, it's hard to get off of it. All he had to do was want or need to make quick money once, and now he's stuck. It's a vicious cycle, and one that theoretically anyone could get caught in.

Juniper is right, he is making money because there is a demand for the street drugs he is selling.
We would all be better off if the drug companies came up with a potent legal drug that satisfies the needs of people.
If we could say we reject illegal drugs then we can reject drug sellers but the sad reality is that people want these drugs.

As long as there is a market for these kinds of street drugs, there will be someone to sell them. Apparently there is a HUGE market here for crack, cocaine, fentenyl..Where are people getting the money for their drugs? I don't do drugs, drink, party. I don't have money left over at the end of the month for a band aid.. I used to think.. darn..I'd kill for a new car.. now I think, it's the kids birthday, I'd kill for a 3 rib roast.

These drugs aren't cheap.. if a person is working and buying drugs.. I am not your keeper.. have a nice death... eventually.. that is where you will be.. BUT if the people buying this stuff are on welfare..now they are using MY money to support their habit. Bring in addiction testing. Why should I have to pay for someone elses cigarettes? Booze? Street drugs?? And pushers? if caught.. punishment to fit the crime..a nice overdose.

He got 2 1/2 years back in in 2014 for beating a guy over drugs on a home invasion. Served about a year and got out in 2015, has not worked at a full time job and still drives around in a new 2017 dodge Ram probably cost around 50 to 60K . He will probably be back on streets in a year.

Love how they pose the knives out of their sheaths and open the leatherman to make it look like a Goth weapon. He'll be back on the streets in short order.

"Released on conditions". The only conditions these guys love is the part where they are released. The rest of the "now you be a good boy while on bail or you will get some more conditions next time" conditions are just a laugh. Judges have to be more serious in their judgments.

how much this time? on Nov 1, 2019 at 4:08 pm

How much time for this repeat offender this time?
Obviously going to jail a few years ago did wonders to deter him from crime..
