Not every day does Whitehorse see an airplane that looks like it could be carrying the president of the United States.

Such an aircraft touched down Tuesday afternoon at Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport and departed this morning.

The Boeing C-32 isn’t normally used by the president. It is used to transport senior U.S. officials, right up to the vice-president.

Whitehorse airport manager Robert Manlig said today he was told by U.S. Airforce officials the Boeing C-32 is on a training mission.

The purpose is to ensure runways it might use during international duties are capable of handling the aircraft.

It’s unknown who was aboard the aircraft.

Manlig said he understands the plane arrived from the Lower 48.

Its destination after it departed at 9:20 a.m. today was not provided.

The aircraft did spark curiosity among many of those who saw it.

Who cares? So a plane came to the airport and Virginia fell in the river. Big, big news. Give me a break.

The US could take over Canada with one Marine with a pocket knife. We're too worried that the trans people and their flag won't be saluted.

Gotta say...the first comment, only thus far...damn funny.
I think folks here would pee with excitement if Putin flew in.
Heaps of new age commi types up here.
Maybe they were here to better edit the tower tapes from 9/11?
Remember our story here, that went virtually nowhere?

Of course it was a training exercise. By Homeland Security. At least the Americans are doing something for future security. What is Canada's smiley doing? Smiling and taking selfies with his adoring fans of course. Canada is never prepared for any kind of emergency. Can't be bothered. Our government always think the US will look after us. So, they spend taxpayers money on keeping their voters happy and buying new ones. I can't wait to see when the US sends an Aircraft Carrier fleet through the Northern passage without asking or informing smiley.
