As the Star first reported Wednesday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is coming to the territory – and he’s bringing a cabinet minister with him.

He is scheduled be in Whitehorse on Sunday evening to host a Liberal party fundraiser with Yukon MP Brendan Hanley.

The exact location is still publicly unknown, but the event is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Pre-registration is required for anyone wishing to attend. The deadline is 5 p.m. Saturday. Registration is available on the federal Liberal party website.

Tickets are available for $250.

Alongside Trudeau, Patty Hajdu, Canada’s minister of Indigenous Services, will be a featured guest.

The Liberal party website suggests a donation range of $175 to $1,700.

The Liberal website describes the fundraiser vaguely as “a unique in-person event with Justin Trudeau and Brendan Hanley (looking) at the next steps in our Liberal government’s work to build a better, stronger and more resilient Canada.”

The prime minister last visited the Yukon in 2018, celebrating part of Canada Day in Dawson City.

He will be visiting the territory during the 50th Anniversary of Together Today for our Children Tomorrow.

@ Groucho d'North

1 Legalization of marijuana

2 FPT funding for health care

3 The Emergency Act to clean the streets off Ottawa from the trash piled up there.

Perhaps my memory is failing, but can you list three things the Trudeau Liberals have done to benefit all Canadians since they were elected in 2016? Not the pay-offs to individual demographic voting blocks like parents wanting free daycare, but something that benefits ALL Canadians? Three things...I'll wait.

@ Bonanzo Joe - "Had JT the guts to give out his itinerary, there would have been a thousand protesting his coming."

Hahaha nice fantasy. But no. The most I saw at the "Honk your horn and then we'll hit up Timmies!" gatherings was about 15-20 vehicles.
For it to be "thousands" you would need to squeeze 200 people into each rusted Dodge Ram pickup - I know you guys are all clowns but even that is pushing the limits of what's feasible.

But anyway - JT's schedule was not a secret - the photos show lots of people in attendance - so anyone who really cared to could have shown up and protested.
But that would mean stepping away from the computer - that's too much to ask since there is so much facebook and youtube research to be done on how the government is gonna track you. Yes - the irony of that is lost on the fringe.

Are you this incapable of reading? Why don't you reread my post.

I literally say "Someday soon hopefully Trudeau will no longer be in power "
Try less talking and more listening. I long for the day Trudeau is not in power. But anyone who thinks Pierre Polievre will be a good leader is delusional. And forget the federal NDP.

We're screwed. Can we wipe the slate clean and get some reasonable candidates - both here in the Territory and Federally? Get rid of Justin "Just watch me" Trudeau, Pierre "Trump-lite" Polievre, Ranj, Currie and his frat boys. All of them.

Give us some normal people to vote for.

What I'm hearing is that Justin is offering to sprinkle medical fairy dust on the provinces ~~if and only if~~ they agree to rolling out the new digital identity protocol which will hamstring everyone who would prefer not to have their every move controlled by the WEF. And by hamstring i mean such dainties as not being able to access your banking privileges, or travelling privileges and other little items like grocery privileges. The Saskatchewan premier is balky and unless we want to turn our whole country into China's "basic dictatorship" we should likewise balk.

Hear a lie; tell a lie, but this is what i'm hearing. And incidentally this is the exact same playbook that Brussels, Belgium is using to control the European countries who don't want to dance to their jig.

One option would be to tell the pm to take his fairy dust back home with him.

If you think Trudeau cares about you, you are dead wrong and must live on another planet. Some Yukoners are out of touch with reality. Do you enjoy paying for groceries and gas or does your partner pay for it and you are oblivious? Are you going to like it when he comes for everything that you own, including your house, car, bank account, where you can travel, free speech etc..? You laugh but it is coming and soon. A person asked what has Trudeau done to ruin this country. If you don't know the answer, perhaps you haven't been following his crime spree and shouldn't be commenting.
I like others, would not pay one dime to see a man who cannot speak properly and refuses to answer questions. What a narcissist to dictate the amounts for donations and that people would actually pay $750.00 to see him.
He is only in the Yukon trying to get your vote and nothing else. Please don't fall for his fake participation, lies and fake promises. Remember he was trying to take your guns, then backed off when he decided that he needed the Yukon and all hunters votes too. Be Smart.

Are you and other fans of JT this tone deaf? Do you not give a shit at all about how your grand children's money is being spent by that goof that calls himself prime minister?

Seriously, have you not seen the things the liberals have done in the 8 years they have been in power? I am not even talking about the latest crap like vaccine protests, convoy stuff, arrivecan scam, yada yada yada...

And also let's not mention him going back on his word about first past the post. We all knew he was never going to do it. Considering it was the conservatives party who got the popular vote in the last two elections, but hey, who cares, as long as the money keeps flowing. Who cares how we pay for it. Budgets balance themselves, right?

So here is a brief reminder of all the other amazing accomplishments.
Months of delays in getting vaccines because Trudeau signed a secret deal with China to make vaccines that the Chinese reneged on.

Ethical violations involving the WE Charity scandal, another involving the abrogation of the rule of law to mitigate charges against SNC-Lavalin for years of corrupt practices and another one after Trudeau took a luxury holiday freebie from the Aga Khan, whose organization ended up getting millions in grants from Ottawa.

The recent $5.2-billion bailout of the Muskrat Falls hydroelectric project in Newfoundland — which should never have been built and will never make money if finished.
Millions spent travelling and giving away foreign aid in pursuit of a useless, temporary seat on the UN Security Council.

Pledging $2.65 billion at a Commonwealth Leaders Summit to fight climate change even though Canada’s massive wetlands, farmland and vast forests act as a carbon sink.
Pledging $840 million to Syria for humanitarian assistance when so many Indigenous reserves in Canada don’t have clean drinking water.

Imposing draconian regulations and taxes on oil from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Newfoundland, but not on oil from Saudi Arabia.
Imposing tough environmental assessments on new infrastructure projects, except in the case of a cement plant in Quebec.

Proroguing Parliament and frustrating any attempts to investigate Liberal mismanagement.
But hey, if this is all good with you then I am sure you also support bills C75, C21 and C5, right?

No doubt the Yukon Party faithful will be out waving their flags and screaming obscenities about freedom, vaccines and WEF. I wonder if Jonas Smith, Currie Dixon and Brad Cathers will be out with their crew? More likely they will just get them all wound up, pass on any info they have and then stay out of sight in case something serious or embarrassing happens. That seems to be the Pierre Poilievre playbook.

OMG!!!.... a politician doing normal politician things.... I must be outraged!!! How dare our elected leader take a non-commercial flight to visit his constituents. He should be sitting in the back of an Air North flight security risks be damned. The politicians I vote for would NEVER do this.....

When will people wake up and realize the overarching conflict in society isn't the politically right leaning vs the politically left leaning? The big conflict we should be discussing is about the hording of vast resources by the 1% from the rest of the world.

Hey Rod, how has the country been destroyed and why are you still living here if it has been? Canada is at the top or near the top of almost any metric you can think of including #1 for overall quality of life. I would love to hear what happened to you that lead you to believe Canada has somehow been destroyed.

It sounds like your life obviously isn't going well and the federal government is the easiest scapegoat rather than taking responsibility for your own bad choices.

Nothing says commitment like "I'm upset - but I'm not gonna get out of my seat and out of my rusted, beater truck - the most I will agree to do is move my hand forward a few inches and make my truck's horn do all the work. Even that gets me a little winded! Better hit up Timmies I think my blood sugars low."

Someday soon hopefully Trudeau will no longer be in power - you guys better start planning a new hobby. You already lost the covid one - no more protesting outside of children's hospitals - and no more border blockades with plans of harming the police.

Stay classy!

Yes I remember Trudeaus last visit in 2018. He stood at the look-out overlooking Miles Canyon and announced major upgrades to mining roads around the territory. As far as I know none of that has happened. That was also when the "groping" story broke, and I was sure that scandal would be the end of him. Turns out that was only the tip of the iceberg.
