Dawson City Humane Society is robbed
Someone has stolen several hundred dollars from the Dawson City Humane Society.
Someone has stolen several hundred dollars from the Dawson City Humane Society.
The break-in to the shelter building occurred sometime between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, the RCMP said Thursday afternoon.
No animals were injured, but since a window was damaged to gain entry, they spent a chilly night.
The society relies heavily on donations, fundraising and memberships to keep the shelter running so it can provide an invaluable service to Dawson and neighboring communities.
“A theft from a non-profit organization has a significant impact on the organization and hampers their ability to care for animals in need,” police said.
Police are asking anyone who may have information regarding this or similar occurrences to contact them in Dawson at 867-993-2677.
If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), or by internet at https://www.tipsubmit.com.
You do not have to reveal your identity to Crime Stoppers, and if you provide information to Crime Stoppers that leads to an arrest(s), you may be eligible for a cash reward.
“Thank you to all Yukoners for your support and assistance in this matter,” police said.
