The Yukon government is reporting 53 active cases of COVID-19, with 37 news cases.

The new COVID-19 dashboard doesn’t seem to be fully up-to-date, with no figures from Monday available.

On Sunday, eight new cases were reported. On Saturday, there were nine new cases, while last Friday saw 11 new cases.

The testing positivity rate has risen to 29.3 per cent from 23 per cent, indicating the numbers are trending in the wrong direction.

It’s not known at this point as to whether the climbing numbers will affect the government’s plan to relax more restrictions this Friday.

Mandatory masks for indoor public places and vaccine mandates and certificates will remain in place, with no dates set for their withdrawals.

So if we're done with COVID........ and I hope we are done with being ridiculous about it, then what is going to happen to that big chunk of change that Mr Hanley announced he'd secured for building "safe, voluntary, isolation sites"?

@admirals wife

Go ahead and burn that little card. That’s just a memento. Your vax passport is online. The government has it. You can’t burn it anymore than you can remove the antibodies the vaccine gave you.

You can be in denial if you want. But you have a vaccine passport. Public health has a record too.
But burn that little card if it makes you feel young and rebellious !

Actually, Roy, I have never gotten a vax pass. All I have is the little card the nurses wrote on and intend to burn that. But you go ahead and continue to make assumptions about others to make yourself feel superior.

Vlad. Nova Scotia has a conservative government. That is why. We have liberal government practicing the Marxist doctrines.

And I have no idea how old you believe I am but I am not a boomer. 20 years their junior. But, you know, not a liberal by the time your 20 your heartless, not a conservative by the time your 40 your brainless. Are you the former or the latter? Sorry we can read it all here no need to answer.

I have nothing to engage there, waste of words...no she was handed a paper copy upon receiving first dose from the clinic and told to put a QR copy on her phone to verify, but yeah thanks for asking. Still have no idea where this guy is getting off spouting the nonsense he does but there is the pot who has to call the kettle black yeah? Last I checked paper copies are not accepted anymore either. Yet still requires QR at many venues to enter. I mean yeah your right I can burn my tax return to but you know... it's a non comparison since no one has stated I must do my taxes on my written return or I won't get a job again right? Really should learn proper comparisons.
You sir have some serious mental issues that should have probably been addressed before this pandemic. You sound bonkers with another 200 words essay about nothing to no one. I suppose you're the one to eloquently point out my earlier statement. Much less eloquently then I was hoping for. Maybe you can take the time to actually answer some questions I have put to you in a different post since your govy job gives you so much free time. I see your name all over this place giving the gears to anyone you believe does not agree with you.

What is the point in announcing case counts when we aren't testing everyone anymore? Unless you're a vulnerable person you don't need to get (PCR) tested anymore so how does the government have any idea how many cases are out there?

@Admiral

Your wife burned her vax passport? You mean she received it and then printed it off at home and then set it on fire? Hahahaha

What did that accomplish other than wasting your printer ink and a piece of paper?
You can print off and light on fire as many copies as you want - doesn't change the fact that she received two vaccine doses. Doesn't change the fact that she has a vaccine passport.

I can print off my tax assessment and burn it too - does that mean I don't owe any taxes anymore? Boomers make me laugh.

If you are against vaccine passports and mandates and covid vaccines and think this was all an overblown power grab/hoax please please please vote for the Freedom Party / Peoples Party of Canada in the next elections. Please do that. I implore you. Fringe parties are there to listen to your concerns and will be happy to receive your support.

They will fall flat and accomplish as much as the trucker convoy did. Nothing. Check out the trucker convoy in the states though....hows that one coming along? '
It flopped - I guess the funding dried up....hmmm whose banks accounts just got frozen?

23 opioid deaths in 2021. 21 Covid deaths, total. Where are the opioid camps and mandates and why aren't we forcing Naloxone on these victims?....END THE MANDATES AND STUPID MASKS. There are other problems that never went away and lives yet to live.

Read a press release from nova Scotia 2 days ago about the recent covid deaths...man in his 30s, 2 women in their 60s, 2 men in their 70s, one man in his 80s....then went on to say that the man in his 30s had prior illness and explained the others in similar fashion. Must be nice to have a health officer who actually discloses the whole truth. Beyond ridiculous why that is not happening here.

Reporters should be asking this question: these new 'cases' are people who all got the covid vaccine, right? The vaxxed are the only ones who would go and get themselves tested, or their children.

Even the CMO admitted couple months ago that the covid vaccine does NOT prevent catching and transmitting the virus.
This covid vaccine mandate is completely irrational. Shut down these 'emergency measures' now. Stop wasting our medicare $$$ on these unreliable PCR tests. There is no emergency.

All I keep seeing is how divided we have become on every subject like covid, flooding, race, gender, drugs and so much more. Even during rendezvous while people watching we seen a community so diverse but divided. I apologize to the seniors group being heckled by the ‘so called adults’. Let people be people and celebrate in whatever way they want. Apologies to the tourists who also seen this and walked away shaking their head. Truly I still believe the Yukon can be a good place? Or is this the new Yukon?

In cities across Canada and around the world they are doing away with masks and mandates. I am talking about cities with hundreds of thousands and millions of people ! Why isn't it happening here in the YUKON ?? Put the people on leave without pay BACK TO WORK please ! Emergency Act.........be gone !

“ Even the World Health Organization said these PCR tests gave many false positives and don’t differentiate between the common cold and covid. ”

Care to back that up with a link?

Care to remind us of a time when the common cold led to a million deaths in North America? When ICUs were filled with common cold sufferers? I guarantee you can’t.

DL. This Lib government has 4 more years of dictatorship. And as long as the marxist NDP keep propping them up, they will remain for that length of time. However, just a wee bit before the next election, just watch them suck up to the voters. And as always, the voters will have forgotten all their sins.

I can play stick and carrot to. No date set for pass removal, no date set for my first shot, Oh well.

At least my wife had the courage to burn her vax pass after her second shot. Can't say the same for too many others, we all will live how we choose I suppose. I personally would rather be a pariah then part of whatever this is supposed to be.

I am not anti vax...just anti whatever this is, none of it seems right. All of it seems very counter intuitive to our 150 years as a country, our charter and our constitution.

But, I'm just some mountain hick with no clue so, meh. I'm sure someone will eloquently point that out here. Best of luck my mountain readers, life will return.

We understand, we really do, out-of-control power is addictive. It’s hard to let go. But just calm down now. And listen.

Even the World Health Organization said these PCR tests gave many false positives and don’t differentiate between the common cold and covid. Most jurisdictions have now stopped all covid mandates, because they agree that covid is now endemic and should be dealt with like the flu.

So, it’s time now to quit the covid drama, because you just look like a fool for trying to keep it up. The great majority of folks don’t believe any of this anymore.

With the territories 21st death 'from' covid, surely we now have sufficient numbers to negate the claim that releasing any further information on those that have passed would invade their privacy.

Generally accepted age groupings, gender (whoa can of worms there!), vaccination status (0,1,2,3+), and pertinent pre-existing co-morbidities should be released as has been done in many other jurisdictions.

However it probably won't because it won't support this government's nanny-state posturing.

Considering we have been way past the "herd immunity " goal of 75% for a year now, there should be ZERO restrictions! If you're scared, wear a mask, meanwhile, open up the economy and end segregation! Oh yeah, support local if allowed to..
