COVID-19 case count rises by 29

Dr. Catherine Elliott, the acting chief medical officer of health, reported 29 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 from noon Monday through noon Wednesday.

By Whitehorse Star on November 4, 2021

Revised - Dr. Catherine Elliott, the acting chief medical officer of health, reported 29 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 from noon Monday through noon Wednesday.

Twenty-seven are residents of Whitehorse. One is a resident of Carmacks, while one lives in Watson Lake.

In contrast, for the first time in several months, the Northwest Territories had no new cases to report Thursday.

The number of active cases as of Thursday afternoon was 87, including 74 in Whitehorse.

That afternoon, Elliott issued an exposure notice for Air North, Flight 4N554, Oct. 24, Vancouver to Whitehorse, departure, 1:35 p.m., arrival, 3:59 p.m.

Anyone on this flight is asked to self-monitor through Sunday and get tested if they develop any symptoms.

If any symptoms appear, no matter how mild, self-isolate, remain at home and arrange to get tested either by calling 393-3083 or booking a test online. Rural Yukon residents should contact their community health centre to arrange for testing.

The government has also sent out COVID exposure-related letters to parents of several schools. Those are École Émilie-Tremblay, Elijah Smith Elementary School, École Selkirk Elementary School, and Tantalus Community School in Carmacks.

People from out of the territory who are diagnosed in the Yukon are counted in the Yukon’s active case count but not in the total case count, as they’re counted in their home jurisdiction.

The total number of confirmed cases in Yukon residents since March 2020 is 995.Since March 2020, 889 people have recovered. Ten have died.

Elliott continues to remind everyone who has symptoms to get tested.

Anyone experiencing symptoms in Whitehorse should call the COVID-19 Testing and Assessment Centre at 393-3083 or book online to arrange for testing.

People in communities should contact their rural community health centre.

“Yukoners are also reminded that the best way to protect themselves and the people around them is to get fully vaccinated,” Elliott said in a statement.

“COVID-19 and its variants spread easily. People can pass infection on even if they do not have any symptoms.

“Everyone aged 12 and older can get vaccinated in the Yukon.”

@ProScience Greenie

No need to blame Russia and point to CIA hangout as proof.
The Pfizer leak was first announced by the prestigious British Medical Journal - not the Russians.

@PSG
“Modern democracy” lolol. Like where a scion of the Laurentian aristocracy rules unilaterally after receiving the approval of 19% of eligible voters, in spite of his obvious corruption and incompetence?

@Matthew - best not to trust Russian sources until the highly intelligent ex-KGB officer Vladimir Putin is no longer at the helm and Russia hopefully moves from a hostile authoritarian state to a modern democracy.
An small example of what they've been up to from OpenSecrets - Russia is pouring millions into Kremlin propaganda targeting the U.S.

Everybody here remember the great ventilator shortage of 2020? Even Elon Musk was going to be manufacturing ventilators. Ventilator shortages were a main propaganda point justifying lockdowns. Just trust the mass media’s version of “science” and “professional consensus”. Then they just completely disappeared as a talking point. Why? Because doctors realized ventilators were unsafe for their patients. Sweep it under the rug and on to the next official justification.

@TheHammer I'm the one actually spreading the FACTS.. here you go.. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-one-year-from-canadas-first-covid-19-deaths-what-do-the-numbers-tell/

Also, here is another reason to never go to the doctors again, as they could KILL you with misdiagnosis or mistreatment! https://www.cbc.ca/news/science/medical-errors-killing-up-to-24-000-canadians-a-year-1.514758

Please explain to me how I'm the one spreading misinformation. These are Canadian news sites for you to eat your words on.. yummy! Yes, I'M the one with another motive.. my only motive is to keep proving known liars!

@Hammer
Absolutely no one says elderly people dying doesn't matter, so stop pretending. It absolutely does matter, but the rational response isn't to rearrange the basic structure of society and force experimental drugs on everyone. The selfishness and narcissism required for someone over the age of 75 to demand the destruction of basic freedoms (that they got to enjoy) and the injection of experimental drugs into teens/children is monstrous.

Mathew@ 'Tell both sides of the story". I've heard your side of the story and it's full of misinformation, and a lack of respect for human beings, in particular seniors. Like when you say most of the COVID dead are seniors over eighty. Like it doesn't matter. And everybody else is a percentage point. In other words, we can look at this human disaster as an abstract mathematical equation. Problem is your numbers are wrong, your conclusions are wrong, and there's an ulterior political motive.

The reason to mandate was so hospitals were not overrun with sick people. When a large portion of healthcare workers across North America were fired for not complying it invalidated this reason. You do not fire a massive amount of skilled healthcare workers to stop them from being overworked.

The other reason is to stop the spread from asymptomatic unvaxxed people to the virtuous vaxxed. This is being proven invalid right in front of our eyes because the shot is a dud.
What is the real reason for mandates? Why are we resetting so greatly?

Let's not forget this is an experimental treatment. CDC doesn't even claim it offers protection any more, they claim it offers "an immune response". Well label me anti immune responder.

Will this debate loses vigor when everyone's heating bills triple this winter and real problems can start to be dealt with. Are mandates the solution to everything? Can they mandate food onto the shelves at the stores? Can they mandate propane into my tank at a price that won't bankrupt me?

People that are enthusiastic about mandates are in for a surprise when they realize that their comfortable lifestyle is in part because of the people they want fired. A society is the totality of people forming a community of interdependent individuals. Key word is Interdependent. What happens when you fire the guy that keeps the dam running, or the gal that keeps the water safe, or the drivers that keep the stores stocked? Virtue will not keep your body warm or your belly full.

@Lost in the Yukon
"The vaccine is highly effective in staving off severe symptoms and more importantly preventing hospitalization and death."
1. Based on studies funded by pharmaceutical companies that also claimed high effectiveness against infection/transmission. That obviously didn't pan out.
2. What effectiveness the vaccines actually have is proven to progressively decrease after 5-6 months. Some to the point that the effectiveness goes negative, as in they are more likely to contract the disease than the unvaccinated. https://eugyppius.substack.com/p/negative-efficacy-or-something-is
3. What is actually highly effective against severe symptoms/hospitalization/death is a healthy immune system. Very few people face severe outcomes and those that do are almost exclusively immune/health compromised. Unprecedented social/political hysteria was never the right response.

@ Salt: Yes there is a story; Why are we worse off than 2020? The elephant in the room that no-one reports, except to say some cases are visitors, is that visitors are infected when they arrive, they bring this in and it spreads to residents.

I am sorry, it escapes me. What is the best way we can protect ourselves?
I am currently 99.8 safe from the covids and 100 percent safe against averse reactions. I am doing pretty good.

Hey, why aren't we see the stats about how many of the cases are from the unvaxed anymore? I am starting to wonder if they are not being forthright with the information shared with the public. It's almost as if there is an agenda at play here.

I need to find some solace from the Yukon government. I think I will have to get a job at a care home in Quebec or Ontario to hold on to my bodily autonomy.

Dearest Rick S … yes, you can still get Covid-19 if you are vaccinated, just as you can still get the flu even though you may have got the flu shot.
The vaccine is highly effective in staving off severe symptoms and more importantly preventing hospitalization and death.

How many are double vaxxed? Come on now, 2 months ago you were blaming non vaxxed, now there's only 10% of us left, you can't keep blaming them.. tell both sides of the story..

Most of the "cases" are people who are already "vaccinated", but that fact is conveniently omitted from the public announcement. You can be sure if most of the "cases" were "unvaccinated" that they would be repeating that numerous times in the story.

The WHO Confirms that the Covid-19 PCR Test is Flawed: Estimates of “Positive Cases” are Meaningless. The Lockdown Has No Scientific Basis

These invalid Covid-19 “estimates” have been used to justify confinement, social distancing, the face mask, the prohibition of social gatherings, cultural and sports events, the closure of economic activity, as well as the mRNA “vaccine” launched in November 2020.

Enough of this nonsensical case number press release regurgitation. Is there any real journalists? We are worse off now than 2020 with >77% of the pop vaccinated. Maybe there is an actual story there?
