Andrew Scheer

Conservative Party leader to visit city

The leader of the Conservative Party of Canada will be speaking at a Yukon Chamber of Commerce luncheon this week.

By Whitehorse Star on July 2, 2019

The leader of the Conservative Party of Canada will be speaking at a Yukon Chamber of Commerce luncheon this week.

Andrew Scheer will be in Whitehorse on Wednesday, in his first official Yukon visit as his party’s leader.

Chamber president Peter Turner said today this is great opportunity for the Yukon’s business community to show national parties and leaders what the territory’s priorities are.

“I’m hoping for good questions from the business community,” Turner said.

He clarified that this is not a partisan event for the chamber, as it would be happy to invite the leaders from all the other parties for events. He added he hopes the Liberals and NDP are open to this.

Tickets for the event at the Coast High Country Inn are on sale until 4 p.m. today, at a cost of $35.

Former Tory leader Stephen Harper paid annual summer visits to the territories for almost every one of his nine years as prime minister.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited Whitehorse in September 2017 and attended 2018 Canada Day celebrations in Dawson City.

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh has not visited the territory as leader.

Peoples Party Leader Maxime Bernier and Green Party Leader Elizabeth May have paid visits to the Yukon over the last several years.

Followup to yesterday's poster

Conservative attack ads go much further back
Their mocking of Jean Chretien's facial paralysis, Stephan Dion's accent and Kathleen Wynne's sexuality come to mind.

Ridiculing Bible Boy Andy for his easily verifiable anti-abortion stance is fair game.

Just a short list of some of the stuff Canadians endured during that last Neo Conservative government.
Not only have Harper’s campaign handlers made his campaign events by invite only, they were forcing anyone let in to sign an agreement not to transmit any description of the event or any images from it -- but dropped the gag orders after news stories made them an issue.

Conservatives Unfix Their Own Fixed Date Election Law
In 2008, Harper pulled the plug on his own government, violating his own new law, which stipulated elections every four years.

Guilty Plea on In and Out Affair
The Conservative Party and its fundraising arm pled guilty to some Elections Act charges stemming from their exceeding spending limits in the 2006 campaign. The investigation cost taxpayers over $2 million.

Cons’ Elections Bill Strips Power from Elections Canada
The Fair Elections Act also makes it harder for Canadians to vote as more ID is required. Nationwide protests in which more than 400 academics took part forced Pierre Poilievre to withdraw some measures in the bill because of their alleged anti-democratic bent.

Harper Minister Smears Head of Elections Canada
In a bid to impugn his integrity, Democratic Reform Minister Pierre Poilievre accused the Elections Canada CEO Marc Mayrand of being a power monger and wearing a team jersey.

Copyright Grab for Attack Ads
CTV News found out Conservatives aimed to rewrite copyright law to let political parties grab any media content and use it for free in their ads. The impact, warned CTV’s Don Martin, “will be to cast a chill on every broadcast appearance” by MPs, commentators and reporters, who “must now be aware their views could end up featured in a political attack ad.” By asserting “unlimited access to the airwaves for propaganda purposes,” Martin said, the Harper government “could be seen as flirting with fascism.”

Conservatives Use Terrorists’ Propaganda in Attack Ad
Harper’s party created a political ad incorporating music and horrifying images of doomed captives pulled straight from the Islamic State’s own promotional video. The target: Justin Trudeau, whose views on the risks and rewards of bombing ISIS differ from Harper’s.

Record Use of Personal Attack Ads
Under Harper’s leadership, Conservatives became the first to routinely use personal attack ads outside an election writ period. Their ads often used quotes deliberately taken out of context. Incidence of attack ads by Harper Conservatives was heavier than by any other government.

Beware of fake news with regards to Mr. Scheers stand on Abortion. The Liberals have tried to make us believe he will start bringing in closing of abortion clinics just like Trump. He has stated he and his wife chose to have a large family but when he is PM the issue will not arise at any time for discussion.

If you like your freedom and your way of life, then this is the only guy to vote for. His platform on guns is simple, leave law abiding citizens alone to enjoy the guns they've had for decades, don't make paper criminals out of them, a la Trudeau & Bill Blair and Bill C71. Get tough on gangs, not soft on crime, like the liberal bill C75. Don't be like Trudeau and kill resource extraction and pretend you authorize a new pipeline then put forth bill C69 killing any means of transport of said oil which would run through new pipeline.

NDP - too expensive for my already over taxed cheque and gun grabbers..

Green - way too left wing, with socialist overtones, opposed to anything and everything resembling logging, mining or fishing, and gun grabbers.

Lieberals - really do I need to point out some of Trudeau's accomplishments?
And go:

-Carbon Tax SCAM
-SNC Scandal.
-Garbage NAFTA deal.
-Buying used F18 from Australia.
-$40 million spent FIGHTING veterans in court for benefits and saying their asking too much.
-Idiotic bollywood India trip with negative $750 million in "deal" for Canada and bringing convicted criminal with you to state visit and dinner.
-Admiral Mark Norman Scandal.
-free for all at the border crossing with the US, including housing illegals in hotels.
-Re-integrating ISIS terrorists instead of um, I dunno, executing them.
-No chance of any semblance of balanced budget.

I could go on, but those that blindly follow the little potato and think he can do no wrong will ignore everything and be good little peasants and vote red.

Oh right I forgot Mad Max and the PPC - yeah bunch of yokels with a sore loser for a leader who's getting paid off to split the Conservative vote.
So do yourself a favor this October and vote CPC, the future generation of Canadians will thank you.

Do you prefer to have an ex drama teacher, pretty boy to run our country?
He controls every world stage he steps out on. China, U.S., Saudi Arabia, India, come to mind. God help us, if we have to put up with another term of our present village idiot.

Seems like an ok guy. But his highly religious background coupled with his obsession with making guns more available makes me say "thanks but no thanks". I'll pass on voting for you or Jona.

Wow, the Liberals must be scared as they’re bringing out the smear campaign in full force, While I am not a complete fan of the Conservative party or Andrew Scheer I know Justin Trudeau and the weak kneed apology tour he’s been in for the last four years needs to be shown the door.
As I see it I’m not a recent immigrant, I’m not LGBTQRST, I don’t smoke dope, and I don’t agree with having the Liberal carbon tax shoved down my throat so the Liberals really aren’t about me whatsoever.

I was told that Trudeau did not want the job of liberal leader because he does not understand anything about it. Then one of my friends in Canso, Nova Scotia riding told me some interesting things about Trudeau. He likes to micro manage people and he knows it all.

Scheer brags to his base about the fact that he has voted against women's reproductive rights every single time he has had a chance.

He also cheated his way to the party leadership, which has been swept off the decks by the party faithful in order not to damage their chances in the next election.

He is a crooked politician, a fundamentalist Christian, and is opposed to women's rights. As a PROGRESSIVE conservative, I will not vote for him.

Has everyone forgotten how absolutely corrupt this clown was and is?
Scheer had used Campaign Research and as speaker under Harper refused to hear complaints regarding a company that contacted voters and spread lies about a Liberal MP.

There were irregularities in how he recently became CPC party leader.
He claims to be against carbon tax but instead has alternative fees and cap and trade system that is even more complex and expensive.

Libs and cons have ruined things for everyone, eroding rights, freedoms and instead endless corruption.

Ha, ha, ha - I love it when the Liberals get their nuts in a knot. It is so funny reading their renditions and espousing their fear on the populace. Trouble is, it is all falling now on deaf ears. It will be glorious to see the end of your village dolt.

Hunting and Firearms rights will be permanently reduced under another liberal govt
