A 52-year-old Yukon woman was killed Saturday when the southbound van she was driving collided head-on with a transport truck north of Fort St. John, B.C.

The B.C. coroner’s office has not released the identity of the woman who was pronounced dead at the scene, pending the notification of her next-of-kin.

RCMP accident reconstruction analysts are still investigating the cause of the tragedy, RCMP Cpl. Dave Tyreman said in an interview this morning.

The RCMP have said highway conditions may have been a factor.

Police were notified at 10:09 p.m. Saturday of a serious collision 87 kilometres north of Fort St. John.

The driver of the tractor-trailer unit was not injured.
