Whitehorse residents can now register to vote, check their registration status, and apply to vote by mail online for the Oct. 21 municipal election.
“Through our partnership with Elections Yukon, the upcoming City of Whitehorse municipal election will offer the most convenient and flexible options for voters,” the city said in a statement last week.
“This will be the first time that Whitehorse voters can register to vote online, and all voters can vote by special ballot.”
In-person polling locations are also being planned, with COVID-19 safety measures in place for voters and staff.
Information on voter registration, voting by mail and other details are available at https://whitehorse.ca/election.
The nomination period for candidates opened Sept. 7 and will close at noon Sept. 23.

Good job on the on-line voting option there city. As an aside and with a municipal election advancing with the current mayor unwilling to comment what is the building situation with the City? Are there nine (9) empty buildings around? Did certain departments just expand their storage areas? Are empty buildings be heated for no reason? Can someone running for office get a brief on this as the cow admin is not forth coming with this information and has taken the silent Sam route. Council I know you're busy making important decisions???
