City moves to re-budget $33 million

City council voted at its meeting Monday bring forward a bylaw needed to re-budget $33 million in capital expenditures that were planned for in 2020 but did not get spent.
The city regularly re-budgets capital expenditures from the previous year for projects not completed and for projects that need multi-year funding but require the entire budget to be committed in year one, says the administrative report presented to council Monday.
There was a variety of reasons why projects were not completed.
“However, the primary factors for 2020 relate to the COVID-19 pandemic,” says the report.
“If these projects are to be completed, funds that were set aside in 2020 have to be re-budgeted into 2021. The management group reviewed their outstanding capital projects and identified those that require re-budgeting.”
The report says it’s anticipated most of the projects being brought forward will be completed this year.
It also notes that funding for a majority of projects is coming from an outside source, such as federal gas tax funding.

@DA - it’s not a small problem for those of us that live in Riverdale. ALL other subdivisions in Whitehorse have 2 avenues of entrance/exit except Riverdale. Riverdale residents would like the same 2 avenues of entrance/exit as the other subdivisions.

Really,
That would be a lot of tax dollars for a relatively small problem.

How about paying someone to clean the snow off the roads... Almost all around the city the roads are horrible and it's going to be a giant mess as it melts.
Don't understand how the city can issue tickets to businesses for not clearing snow but they are allowed to leave the mess they do on the roads.

Gee..more civic Wizardry eh...during government VooDoo times...imagine?
More importantly for me today is to give the snowshoe artist a serious OJW hat tip.
That image or one much like it of same stompfest, should if not could be on the cover on the telephone book.
People still use those don't they? Kind of losing touch of what others do...
since I have not seen many in a year!! ...aaaannnD.... (see below)
Team SS, the Doc, King Dan/Liberal blowhole and their willfully blind sycophants
need a serious slice of political humble pie.
Before they flee...or we are pooched beyond comprehension.
Cognitive dissonance, Liberal blind mice/rats are as popular up here as yoga pants...a trifecta of visuals to fool the mental.
Gee folks I tried to just have an excuse/place to tip my hat to snowshoe artist.
...kinda lost track, vented a tad...
