Little is being said about the lengthy, continued absence of city manager Stan Westby, though the city expects to release a statement by the end of this week.
On Wednesday, acting city manager Brian Crist said he couldn't comment about Westby's multi-month absence, but added a press release will be issued later in the week.
Westby has been on what's being described as a "medical leaveā since last April 5.
In May, Crist said Westby was on a medical leave and that the city expected him back, though his return date was unknown.
Westby's absence came about nine months after he took on the role of city manager in July 2012.
Previous to that, Westby, who has been unavailable for comment on his extended absence from city hall, was the chief administrative officer in Powell River, B.C.

" Of course we the taxpayers only find out after the fact what we pay these guys. Our council gives out big wages without informing us first. Then we are locked into it and it's too late. Thus our high taxes!!!!! "
This was in the Powell River News Paper. Too bad our council doesn't surf the net a bit.

I'm almost speechless at the contempt on display towards residents in keeping this quiet all these months. With all due respect to issues the fellow may have, any other level of government would have come clean about this months ago.
A press release. I can't wait. I'm sure it will be hugely informative.
